Nick Carboni is currently the sports director at WCNC, the local NBC affiliate in Charlotte, NC. In addition to Nick’s work at WCNC, he does play-by-play for select events on ESPN3.
Prior to joining WCNC, Nick was the sports director and lead anchor/reporter for the local NBC affiliate in Knoxville, WBIR-10. Nick was able to use his experience and creativity to reshape the sports department and bring a fresh, vibrant look and feel to a station that was already considered the top local station in the area.
Nick was a sports anchor/reporter at KOLR/KOZL in Springfield, MO from 2010-2012. In addition to anchoring nightly sportscasts, Nick hosted “Ozarks Sports” on Saturday and Sunday nights which is an all-local, 30-minute sports show that Nick created from scratch. He writes, hosts, shoots, and edits the entire show and it continues to be very popular in the Springfield area.
Nick spent 2007-2009 as a sports reporter with The Hartford Courant.
Nick has a comfortable, confident delivery, giving him a strong on-camera presence. Nick is adept at live interviews, asking comprehensive questions, and smoothly directing traffic. Nick has won multiple awards for his feature reporting, including a 2014 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, and a 1st place Missouri Broadcaster’s Association award in 2012. In 2015, Nick received an award for the best sports feature in the state of Tennessee.
Nick received an M.S., in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from Syracuse University, and also holds a B.A., English/Sports Journalism from Springfield College.
Nick was born in New Hampshire and raised in Connecticut. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC.
